Introduction Of Millton Ergonomics

Millton Ergonomic Backpacks are designed for better protection of children’s backbones. Nowadays, children lead busy lives. Their tight schedules mean that they need to carry their personal belongings: books, stationery, GSM, water bottles, food, clothes, etc. all day long. In Europe, it is reported in a Spanish study that over 50% of children are using backpacks exceeding 10% of their body weight and for those carrying the heaviest backpacks had a 50% higher risk of back pain than those carrying the lightest, and a 42% higher risk of diagnosed back problems (http://www.nhs.uk/news/2012/03march/Pages/rucksack-bags-back-pain-children.aspx.)

Backpacks have damaging affects on the posture and movement of children’s bodies (especially during the growth of their muscles and bones). The mechanical explanation is that backpacks create leverages on the torso, which distort the natural curve of the spine. Consequently, it is generally stressful and energy wasting to carry a heavy load in a backpack.

To reduce the harm, the weight of the backpack must be dispersed onto the skeletal structure in a balanced way around the vertical axis so that the loading on the child’s body is only vertically downwards. This creates naturally balanced and body-friendly load carrying. To achieve this, the backpack’s weight must be held and pulled close to child’s back.
